BOTOX®, a purified protein, is a simple, nonsurgical treatment that can temporarily stop wrinkling from occurring when making expressions between the eyebrows during squinting or showing anger (frown lines), around the eyes from smiling (crow's feet), and on the forehead when lifting the eyebrows. At the Dermatology Center of Wellington, we make sure you have that natural look you desire. Your face will not be frozen like an expressionless statue. It is important to start BOTOX® early, because BOTOX® does not erase wrinkles you already have, but stops wrinkles of expression from occurring on a day to day basis during normal life that otherwise become permanent and worsen over time. One 15-minute treatment—a few almost painless tiny injections—and within days there is a noticeable improvement, which can last 4-6 months. During your free cosmetic consultation, we will tell you which of the three areas (as discussed above) for which you may be a BOTOX® candidate. We are always straightforward about who does not need BOTOX® as well as those patients where the wrinkles are so deep at rest (when not making an expression), that it is too late for BOTOX®.

Restylane® / Juvederm® filler for mild to moderate wrinkles/ folds and Perlane® filler for moderate to severe wrinkles/ folds restore volume and fullness to areas of the face, such as the lines from your nose to the corners of your mouth (smile lines) and the jowls. Imagine your face is a balloon losing air as you age. Fillers are a sort of "air pump" filling wrinkles at rest (wrinkles that do not get better or worse with expressions). Knowing which filler is the best for an individual patient, where the correction is required, how much to use, and at what level to place the filler requires knowledge, skill and experience. Dr. Strong has the knowledge, skill and experience to assure the best cosmetic outcome for you.
No allergy testing is required before use. Restylane®, Perlane® and Juvederm® are made from hyaluronic acid, which is a naturally occurring substance in the second layer of the skin, that along with collagen disappear with age, and wrinkles/ folds appear. Collagen was the first filler available, but only lasted an average of 3 months, whereas Restyane®, Perlane® and Juvederm® last 6-12 months. Results are instant and the only side effects we tend to see are mild redness and swelling at the injection site which lasts no more than 7 days and can be covered with make-up.
Restylane®, Perlane® and Juvederm® are free from animal proteins. This limits any risk of animal-based disease transmissions or development of allergic reactions to animal proteins.

How does fractional nonablative skin resurfacing work?
The Palomar Starlux Lux 1540 Fractional Laser handpiece delivers light in an array of narrow, focused "microbeams" to create columns of heat within the skin. The heated tissue within the columns purposely injures old damaged collagen responsible for uneven skintone / texture thereby initiating a natural healing process that forms new, healthy collagen. This results in a fresher, more youthful skin appearance.
What areas can I have treated?
StarLux Fractional treatments can be applied to most areas of the body, including the face, chest, arms, and hands.
What makes StarLux Fractional treatments different from other Skin Resurfacing methods?
Some skin resurfacing devices, such as CO2 lasers, use the ablative method, which remove the top layer of the skin and some of the second layer. While good results are eventually seen after 2-4 weeks of downtime, the drawbacks include red raw skin, permanent lightening of the skin, and a risk of infection for several weeks after treatment.
Other devices use the non-ablative method: sending light pulses into the second layer of the skin, while leaving the top of the skin intact. This allows quick recovery, but when the light pulses don't penetrate far into the second layer, the change in skin tone and texture is less effective.
StarLux Fractional Nonablative Skin Resurfacing offers both superior results and no downtime. The Lux1540 beams penetrate deeper into the second layer of the skin than competing devices for effective, long-term results. The fractional non-ablative approach stimulates quick healing in the second layer, while leaving the top of the skin intact.
StarLux Fractional treatments are also easier than other technologies, which can involve long prep and clean-up time. Some devices even require that a dye be applied to your skin, which is difficult to rinse off after treatment. But the StarLux doesn't require dye or prolonged appointments. Treatments are quick and convenient to your schedule.
Are these treatments safe? Are they painful?
By delivering light as individual pulses of microbeams, the Lux1540 protects the skin from the overheating that can result from many other resurfacing treatments. In addition, the Lux1540 features built-in cooling of the skin, so you feel only minor discomfort during treatment. We also prescribe a numbing ointment to be applied one hour before treatment to maximize your comfort.
What should I expect after treatment?
You will experience mild redness and swelling in the treated area, which typically fades within one to seven days after treatment. Generally, you can receive a treatment and go back to work or to other activities without any recovery time.
Because the light pulses are confined to narrow columns in the skin, much of the skin is left unaffected and there is a quick healing process. Most people notice positive changes in skin tone and texture within a few days.
A series of five treatments at 4 week intervals may be required to achieve the desired results. There is a cumulative effect and it is important to adhere to a consistent schedule of sessions to maximize the benefits. Your treatment provider will be able to give you more information about StarLux Nonablative Fractional Skin Resurfacing treatment and expected outcomes.

What body areas can I get treated?
Any area, except around the eyes. The upper lip, face, neck, underarms, bikini line, legs, chest, and back can all be treated.
What color hair can be removed?
Any variation of black or brown hair can be permanently removed. No treatment currently exists to effectively remove blond, red, gray, or white hair. Dying hair black or brown is ineffective because the dye does not go deep enough to penetrate the hair bulb under the skin. It is at the level of the hair bulb, in the second layer of the skin, where the action of permanent hair removal takes place, sparing the skin surface from harm.
What should I expect after treatment?
Immediately after treatment you might experience mild redness and swelling. This usually lasts only a few hours.
The treated hair will continue to appear 7-30 days post-treatment. This is not new hair growth, but the treated hair being expelled from the skin.
Typically, 4-8 treatments will be required to achieve 80% permanent hair reduction. There is a cumulative effect and it is important to adhere to a consistent schedule of sessions to maximize the benefits. A touch-up treatment might be needed every few years to continue permanent hair removal.

Photorejuvenation through Intense Pulse Light (IPL) - Removal of brown spots and red blood vessels

What body areas can I get treated?
Most areas, except directly around the eyes. The face, neck, chest, arms, back, and legs can all be treated.
What should I expect after treatment?
Immediately after treatment you might experience a painless mild sunburn-like appearance.
Sunspots/Sundamage: The sunspots will darken immediately after treatment and look like "little spots of pepper" that will be naturally shed from the skin within 2 weeks.
Blood Vessels / Rosacea: Blood vessels either disappear immediately after treatment or they may appear more red for about 3 days then fully or partially fade within 2 weeks.
Typically 1-5 treatments will be necessary to treat brown spots and blood vessels. Blood vessels typically take longer to eradicate than sunspots. There is no broken skin or bleeding with the treatments and make-up can be worn afterwards if desired.
What is Microdermabrasion?
Microdermabrasion, also known as the “lunch-time peel”, is a manual, gentle form of exfoliation of the top layers of the skin which is used to smooth and improve the tone of the skin. The procedure will improve the appearance of abnormal pigmentation, blemishes, mild scarring, brown spots, and fine lines.
How is the treatment performed?
Treatments are done using a diamond-tipped hand piece glided across the skin surface taking the top-most layer of dead skin cells with it. With these sessions, discomfort is minimal, normal activities can be resumed immediately, and there is no downtime.
How many will I need?
Over a series of 6 sessions, done every 2 to 4 weeks, taking approximately 20 minutes each.
What can I expect immediately following the procedure?
At the end of each session, you will notice a marked improvement in the texture of your skin. Your skin will have a slight pink appearance. If desired, you can wear make-up. For best results, a series of treatments will help to improve sun damaged skin, blemishes, and minor scars. There is a cumulative effect and it is important to adhere to a consistent schedule of sessions to maximize the benefits.
How are chemical peels performed?
During the procedure, the skin is first cleansed of oils. A solution is then carefully applied and is allowed to remain on the skin for a short period of time, in some cases for longer periods of time, in order to remove the layers of damaged skin. During the procedure, most patients experience a warm to somewhat hot sensation that lasts about 5-10 minutes. Before leaving the office, most patients no longer feel any discomfort. Since we offer glycolic and salicylic acid peels, the procedure may differ a little with each. The procedure can be performed on the face, neck, chest, hands, arms and legs.
What should I do after a chemical peel?
You need to limit sun exposure for 1-2 weeks after your peel. You should wear sunscreen at least SPF 30 or higher every day. Picking skin that is peeling can lead to scarring. Skin is usually improved and back to normal in 1 week. You may resume topical at home treatments such as Retin-A® after 1 week.
